Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need to use a primer with heat resistant paint?

Primer is not always required, but it can help prepare suitable steel and cast iron surfaces before painting. It is especially useful where the surface needs additional preparation or a more even base coat.

How should I prepare the surface before applying heat resistant paint?

Make sure the surface is clean, dry and free from rust, grease, oil, dirt and loose material before applying primer or paint. Good preparation helps achieve a smoother and more durable finish.

How many coats of heat resistant paint should I apply?

Apply thin, even coats rather than one heavy coat. Follow the instructions for the specific product and allow the paint to dry correctly between coats where required.

How long does heat resistant paint take to dry?

Drying times can vary depending on the product, surface, temperature and ventilation. Always check the product instructions before use and allow the coating to dry fully before exposing it to high temperatures.

Can Thermacure paint be used on stoves, fireplaces, BBQs and chimineas?

Yes, Thermacure heat resistant paint is suitable for many high temperature metal applications including stoves, fireplaces, BBQs, chimineas, flue pipes and similar steel or cast iron surfaces.

What temperature is Thermacure heat resistant paint suitable for?

Many Thermacure heat resistant paints are suitable for temperatures up to 650°C. Always check the individual product details, as temperature suitability can vary between products.
